Rocket Lawyer vs. LegalZoom: Pricing, Features and Who Each Fits

Rocket Lawyer and LegalZoom both sell online legal products, but the buttons on Able Legal Forms open two different kinds of purchase: a Rocket Lawyer membership that can include a first entity registration, and LegalZoom’s Business Attorney Plan for prepaid consultations.

Quick answer

Use Rocket Lawyer’s public pricing and LLC pages when you want a membership that bundles documents, limited attorney contacts, and a first registration with state fees still due. Use LegalZoom’s Business Attorney Plan page when you want a subscription of attorney consults and limited document review. Able Legal Forms does not link LegalZoom’s business-formation checkout here. Neither product replaces reading your state’s filing rules. Prices below can change; verify them on each provider’s site.

What we are comparing (and what we are not)

This guide follows the same links used elsewhere on the site: Rocket Lawyer’s LLC and pricing pages, and LegalZoom’s attorneys page. It is not a review of every LegalZoom SKU, every Rocket Lawyer add-on, or any marketing ranking claim. For vendor-by-vendor formation detail—including Inc Authority—see business formation services.

Rocket Lawyer membership in more detail

The pricing page groups Standard, Plus, and Pro. All three list document creation, e-signatures, and AI Q&A. Attorney written answers and live calls scale up by tier. Cancellation steps are not fully spelled out on the pricing page—cancel before a trial ends if you do not want the paid membership.

LegalZoom Business Attorney Plan in more detail

The attorneys page markets ongoing support for less than a typical hourly consult, with 6- and 12-month billing options. Plan copy highlights unlimited 30-minute consults on new matters and document review with a 10-page limit on ordinary documents (estate-planning documents created with LegalZoom may have different review rules on that page). Longer reviews list flat add-on prices. The plan is not full court representation. If you need an operating agreement reviewed, an attorney consult can help, but drafting or filing is still a separate decision—see LLC operating agreement options.

Where Inc Authority fits

If your only job is to send articles to the state with a $0 vendor service fee, Inc Authority’s homepage competes on that offer and still requires state fees. That is a formation checkout, not an attorney membership. Read Is a free LLC really free? and LLC vs sole proprietor before you assume you need any of these subscriptions.

How to choose

  1. Write down whether you need a filing, document templates, attorney time, or all three.
  2. Open the provider’s own pricing page and note renewal, trial, and cancellation language.
  3. Add the state fee from the official secretary of state site to any “free” filing quote.
  4. Avoid buying an attorney plan only to get a filing, or a filing membership only to get unlimited advice.

FAQ

Is this a ranking of which legal website to buy?
No. Able Legal Forms does not publish rankings or star ratings. This page explains two products we link to: Rocket Lawyer’s membership (including a first entity registration) and LegalZoom’s Business Attorney Plan.
Does LegalZoom’s attorney plan form my LLC for free?
The attorney-plan page describes consultations and document review, not a $0 state filing. Formation packages, if you buy them elsewhere on LegalZoom, are a different purchase. State fees still apply to any filing.
Does Rocket Lawyer’s “first registration free” waive state fees?
No. Rocket Lawyer’s pricing page says the first LLC, corporation, or nonprofit registration is free with membership, then $99, and that government fees are excluded. You still pay the state.
Will either plan represent me in a lawsuit?
LegalZoom’s Business Attorney Plan materials say full representation in a lawsuit is not included; members may hire network attorneys separately at a stated discount. Rocket Lawyer distinguishes legal information from privileged advice sessions sold as add-ons. Read each provider’s terms.
Which one should a brand-new shopper buy first?
If you only need the state to create an LLC, compare formation offers—including Inc Authority’s $0 service-fee filing—on our formation page. If you mainly need scheduled attorney consults, read the attorney-plan limits carefully. Many owners need both filing help and advice at different times.
Do prices on this page stay current?
No guarantee. Figures above were taken from public pricing pages reviewed on this site’s review date. Providers change plans; open their sites before you enter a card.
