Florida Code of Judicial Conduct · Canon 7
Canon 7: A Judge or Candidate for Judicial Office Shall Refrain From Inappropriate Political Activity
Because Florida selects and retains trial judges through nonpartisan elections and appellate judges through merit retention votes, Canon 7 strictly regulates judicial campaign conduct to preserve judicial impartiality.

1. Key Restrictions on Judicial Judges and Candidates
A judge or judicial candidate shall not act as a leader or hold office in a political organization, publicly endorse or oppose another candidate for public office, make pledges or promises of conduct in office other than the faithful and impartial performance of the duties of the office, or personally solicit campaign contributions or publicly stated support (which must instead be handled by a campaign committee).
